County Re-Opens Certain Programs and Services Beginning May 4

Consistent with Governor DeSantis’ Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step Plan for Florida’s Recovery and in alignment with local, state, and national health expert guidance, Leon County Government will re-open certain programs and services beginning Monday, May 4.

“In sync with the Governor’s recent order, the County will safely and smartly reopen certain programs and services starting next week,” said Leon County Commission Chairman Bryan Desloge. “While reopening in small steps, our top priority remains preserving public health and protecting the safety of our citizens and our employees.”

Learn more about the Governor’s most recent executive order HERE. Please note, the Governor extended his safer-at-home order until Monday, May 4 at 12:01 a.m., at which time it will expire and the State will continue into the Governor’s phase one of re-opening.

Leon County’s countywide curfew will also expire with the Governor’s extended order on May 4.

“Throughout the pandemic, our County employees have stayed focused on providing the essential services our community needs now more than ever,” said Leon County Administrator Vincent S. Long. “So while how we deliver services may look different for the time being, our citizens can still expect the same high-quality customer service as we reopen certain County functions with guidance from health experts.”

Effective Monday, May 4, the following County programs and services will reopen with certain delivery changes to protect public health and safety:

Leon County Public Library System

Library locations remain closed to the public.
Libraries will now offer curbside pick-up and drop-off services for print and other media materials at the County main library and all branches under select hours.
Main library, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Branch libraries, Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Library patrons may use the online catalog or library mobile app to reserve materials, or call (850) 606-2665. Once reserved, patrons will receive instructions when to report to library and how to contact a librarian to bring out the reserved materials.

Continue to offer library-based telephone services on (850) 606-2665.

Development Support and Environmental Management (DSEM)

All online services remain accessible.

One-on-one appointments may now be scheduled by calling (850) 606-1300.

No walk-ins at this time.

Parks and Recreation

Greenways and trails remain open.

Active recreation programming remains closed.

Community centers remain closed.

Solid Waste

Household hazardous waste, tires and yard debris drop off and free mulch pick-up re-open (after soft launch this week) at the Solid Waste Management Facility, 7550 Apalachee Parkway.
