HAND Program Launches COVID-19 Rental Assistance Portal
The Housing Assistance Network of Dade (HAND) Program launched a Rental Assistance Portal today, specifically geared toward helping individuals and families impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency.

A household may be eligible to receive COVID-19 rental assistance for past due rent, current rent due and rent for upcoming months.

The HAND COVID-19 Rental Assistance Portal is open to accept screening questionnaires until 11:59 p.m. on June 5, 2020.

To apply, or for more information, prospective applicants can visit: www.miamidaderenthelp.com

Prospective applicants with special needs or those with limited access to the internet, may apply by calling the Homeless Helpline at 1.877.994.4357 and selecting Option #3, or the HAND Program at 305.231.7667.

To qualify for COVID-19 rental assistance, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Individuals residing in Miami-Dade County who lost their job or have less income as of or after March 1, 2020.
Household income is below 50 percent of the Area Medium Income, based on HUD criteria. (i.e., for a single person, monthly income is below $2,666 or $3,429 for a family of four).
Household rent is at or below 120 percent of the Fair Market Rent rates for Miami-Dade County, based on HUD criteria (i.e., $1,216 for an efficiency/studio, $1,432 for a one-bedroom unit, or $1,800 for a two-bedroom unit).
Because funding for the program is limited, and need is expected to exceed available funding, a computerized lottery will determine the order in which eligible applicants can be assisted. However, selection in the lottery does not guarantee assistance from the HAND Program. Households must successfully meet all eligibility requirements and submit required documents for final determinations of assistance.
