Coronavirus Update March 25, 2020

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, Miami-Dade County issued one new emergency order, 11-20, and an amendment to Emergency Order 09-20.   Emergency Order 11-20 Urges persons 65 years or older or who have a serious underlying medical condition to stay home and take such other measures as necessary to limit their risk of exposure to COVID-19 (coronavirus). Persons over 65 years of age and persons that have a serious underlying medical condition are urged to stay home and take such other measures as necessary to limit their risk of exposure to COVID-19. Consistent with CDC guidelines, such conditions include, but are not limited to chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma, serious heart conditions, immunocompromised status, including those in cancer treatment, and severe obesity. Employers are urged to allow employees who are over 65 years of age, or that have a serious underlying medical condition that places them at a high risk of severe illness from COVID-19, the ability to work from home if able; in the alternate employers are urged to provide flexibility with leave time to ensure such employees are protected. Employers are urged to allow any employees who are able to work remotely the ability to do so. Amendment No. 1 to Emergency Order 09-20 Effective March 26, 2020, hotels, motels, short-term vacation rentals and other commercial lodging establishments shall not accept any occupants, regardless of when reservations were made, or extend existing reservations, except for essential lodgers.
