In an effort to inform the public about domestic violence and the work of the Domestic Violence Oversight Board (DVOV), on Jan. 8, the board live-streamed its first meeting of the year from the Miami-Dade County Commission Chambers at the Stephen P. Clark Center. Vice Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa was in attendance; she was also the prime sponsor of the ordinanceto transfer the administrative jurisdiction of the DVOB from the Mayor’s purview to the Office of Community Advocacy under the Board of County Commissioners.

Weekend 2020
The Miami-Dade County Commission for Women, under the Office of Community Advocacy, will participate in a historical march commemorating the 100 year anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. The march will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, in front of the Art Deco Welcome Center, 1001 Ocean Dr. in Miami Beach, FL. Participants are asked to register and to dress in suffragist attire. A donation of $5 is optional at registration. The march is being held as part of Art Deco Weekend 2020.
