The birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., reverend and social activist, is commemorated every year on the third Monday of January. All City administrative offices (City Hall, the Community Center, the Public Works Services Center, and the Building Department) will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2020.

It's Bulk Pick-up Week: A Fresh New Start for the New Year
You have two weekends to work on your garage clean-up project. Tidy up for a clean start to the New Year. The next Residential Quarterly Bulk Trash Pickup Service begins Wednesday, January 22. Click below for details. You can also place out any remaining Christmas trees curbside for pick up with the bulk trash items.

Did we confuse you? Previously published dates for Bulk Pickup in January 2020 were INCORRECT. We apologize for the error. The correct dates are Wednesday, January 22 through Saturday, January 25. Place items curbside by 7 a.m. on your regular garbage service day which occurs during those dates.
Become a Code Explorer
Are you interested in design and 3D coding? The next session of Code Explorers will feature 3D modeling, and will begin the week of January 28. Participants ages six through 13 will explore engineering, computer science, and technological fields while creating, designing, building and coding unique projects to take home. Classes are held at the Weston Community Center. Don't delay, sign up today!

New 75 Express Service from BBT to MIA
If you have business at, or work near, Miami International Airport, you may want to try out the new 75 Express Route 115, launched this week by Broward County Transit. The route is offered on weekdays and will travel southbound, departing the Sunrise Park & Ride at the BB&T Center every 30 minutes in the morning from 5:40 a.m. until 9:40 a.m. In the afternoon, the route will travel northbound, departing the Miami Airport Station every 30 minutes from 4:45 p.m. until 7:20 p.m. Ride free the first week (through January 17) on air-conditioned coach buses that offer free Wi-Fi.

Checkmate! Mayors' Chess Challenge Draws Crowd in Weston
As the Mayors' Chess Challenge series makes stops throughout Broward County this school year, Weston's event drew a crowd of chess aficionados, young and old, seasoned and beginner-level on January 11. The event certainly did its job to promote and support scholastic chess!

If your child is interested in learning more about the game, the Chess Club is offered at the Weston Community Center for ages five to 18. The club meets Mondays at 4:45 p.m. throughout the year.
