Translate this email News & Resources for Residents During COVID-19 Thursday, September 3, 2020 The City of Sunny Isles Beach continues to closely monitor the coronavirus in South Florida. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines from the CDC and Florida Department of Health which includes social distancing, washing your hands, wearing a facial covering in public and around others, avoiding crowds, and staying home when possible. We would like to share the below information on upcoming City programs, virtual events, news and COVID-19 resources. Programs & Virtual Events Fall Recreation Programs Registration is currently open for Fall Recreation Programs. Most programs will be virtual, with a select few youth athletics held in-person, outdoors, with safety measures in place. Register online at activities.sibfl.net or visit sibfl.net/fall-recreation-programs for more information.  Drive-Thru Food Distribution The next Drive-Thru Food Distribution at Greynolds Park in North Miami Beach is this Friday, September 4 from 9 - 11 am. Open to Miami-Dade County residents. Food is distributed on a first-come first-served basis while supplies last. Drive-Thru Back to School Backpack Giveaway Register your child for our Drive-Thru Backpack Giveaway on Saturday, September 5 from 10 am – Noon. Open to students in grades K-12. Registration is open to residents with a valid City-issued SIB Resident ID Card only. Those who participated in the event on 8/26 are not eligible to participate again. SIBeHealthy Senior Programs Tune in to SIBTV, Atlantic Broadband Channel 662 at 9:30 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for SIBeHealthy Senior programs you can follow along with from home. Visit sibfl.net/sibehealthy for more programming information. Closed on Labor Day Reminder: The Sunny Isles Beach Government Center will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Monday, September 7. The SIBshuttle will not operate. Special City Commission Meeting: First Budget Hearing The City of Sunny Isles Beach will hold a Special City Commission Meeting: First Budget Hearing virtually on Tuesday, September 8 at 5:30 pm. Elected officials, City staff and the public will participate through Zoom video conferencing. Blood Drive One Blood will host a Blood Drive at the Sunny Isles Beach Government Center on Tuesday, September 15 from 10:30 am - 4 pm. All donors will receive a wellness checkup including a COVID-19 antibody test. Appointments required.  Regular City Commission Meeting The City of Sunny Isles Beach will hold a Regular City Commission Meeting virtually on Thursday, September 17 at 6:30 pm. Elected officials, City staff and the public will participate through Zoom video conferencing. Our next event is a Virtual Crafting Showcase on Thursday, September 17 from 7 - 9 pm. Open for teens only in grades 7-12. Registration is required online or by calling 305.792.1706.  Special City Commission Meeting: Second Budget Hearing The City of Sunny Isles Beach will hold a Special City Commission Meeting: Second Budget Hearing virtually on Friday, September 18 at 5:30 pm. Elected officials, City staff and the public will participate through Zoom video conferencing. Facebook Live Yoga Join us for #MediationMonday, a Facebook Live yoga class on Monday, September 21 at 9:30 am. Like our Facebook page and then log on and follow along from home. COVID-19 Testing in Miami-Dade County Miami-Dade Fire Rescue offers at-home COVID-19 testing for senior citizens and individuals over the age of 18 with disabilities who are homebound. The deadline to respond to the 2020 Census is September 30, 2020. Make sure Sunny Isles Beach is counted and receives our share of federal funding for important resources that impact our residents' quality of life.
