Happy Birthday Weston!
24 Years Young
The City of Weston is turning 24 on September 3. Thank you to our residents, elected leaders and dedicated municipal staff for making our City an amazing place to live. To commemorate our anniversary, we invite you to learn more about the history of our vibrant City. 
Happy Labor Day!
The City of Weston wishes everyone a happy and safe Labor Day weekend. City offices will be closed on Monday, September 7, in observance. City parks will remain open and garbage collection will follow normal operating schedules.
Take a Bite Out of Hunger During Hunger Action Month
Thinking about grabbing a bite to eat? Too many in South Florida have to worry about where their next meal will come from. A nationwide initiative, Hunger Action Month takes place throughout September to raise awareness of hunger in America. Over 700,000 people are food insecure in South Florida alone: 330,000 are children and over 110,000 are elderly. Learn how you can help and have fun doing it.

Beware of the Bite!
Mosquito Prevention
The Florida Department of Health in Broward County has confirmed human cases of West Nile Virus. In response, they have issued a mosquito-borne illness alert in Broward County. Fortunately, there are simple steps you can take to protect yourself and others. These include removing standing water sources and protecting exposed skin when outside.
Need Help with Your Rent?
Apply NOW for the Broward County Cares Act Rental Assistance Program
If COVID-19 has impacted your income and you have been unable to make rent payments, apply NOW to receive assistance through the Broward County CARES Act Rental Assistance (CARA) Program, which will provide payments direct to your willing landlord.

The application period is open for ONE WEEK ONLY – now through Sunday, September 6, 2020. Apply online from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. every day during the application period at Broward.org/CARES
Back to School: Grab and Go Meals Available
Grab-and-Go meals are now available for students at all Broward elementary, middle, and high schools. Every Tuesday and Thursday, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. until 5 p.m., students or their parents can pick up meals by walking or driving through the car or bus loop of their home school.

Utility Relief Program Available to Weston Water Customers
Apply through September 16
The Sunrise Cares Utility Program provides Sunrise and Weston water and wastewater utility customers a one-time bill credit of up to $500 for those who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. Apply now through September 16, 2020. The emergency fund will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis to eligible applicants. Click below to access the application form and guideline requirements. 
Small Business Disaster Loans Available
For Those Affected by Flooding May 26-27, 2020
Florida businesses and residents in Miami-Dade, as well as Broward, Monroe and Collier Counties who were affected by flash flooding on May 26 and 27, 2020 may be eligible for financial assistance via low-interest disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration. These services are only available for the Florida disaster declaration as a result of flash flooding in May, and not for COVID-19 related assistance. The deadline to apply for those who sustained physical damage is October 13.

School’s back in session, virtually! Who says we can’t still have fun? Stay active as a family with the City of Weston’s Park and Recreation Department September Calendar. Have a family ride on Sunday or Superhero Trivia Night on Friday. There is something for everyone.
