Your Virtual MB Arts & Culture Fix!

Welcome to your weekly Miami Beach Arts & Culture guide. View digital event highlights for the week and be sure to check out our website for all things arts & culture!
The Bass' Small Talk series continues into late Summer. Tonight, Sept. 22, join Leilani Lynch, Curator at The Bass, for a lively and informal conversation with contemporary artist Farley Aguilar.

Register for free and get to know the artist who will share what’s inspiring him this summer.

Raised in Miami since the age of five, Aguilar is a self-taught painter widely recognized amongst the young South Florida contemporary art community. Aguilar’s work communicates sensations of danger, dread and emotional volatility filtered through the psychological wavelengths of the ‘mob mentality’. In a constant state of searching for truth, Aguilar highlights the possibilities of attaining ultimate knowledge: like Faust, enlightenment leads to self-destruction while ignorance remains blissful. His colors and subjects reflect the full scale of human mortality, destined for a glorious demise. Elements of classical mythology are selectively inserted throughout Aguilar’s work, continuously nodding to stylistic modes of German Expressionism.

Small Talk is The Bass' latest virtual series and, just like it sounds, we’re going informal. Join The Bass live on YouTube as they introduce and get to know the voices, faces and minds behind works currently on view and in the museum’s collection.

This can be done in numerous ways such as up-lighting the exterior part of your building, decorating common areas or lobbies in pink, and/or hanging decorative items in your windows!
