Leon County COVID-19 Community Update for October 19

As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread globally, Leon County Emergency Management is committed to actively monitoring the disease and coordinating preparedness and response efforts with local health officials, healthcare providers, first responders and other critical emergency response functions.

The following update provides a timely, accurate and vetted source of official County and community information.

Significant Changes Since Last Update

• New: Free COVID-19 Drive-thru Mobile Testing this Wednesday, October 21, at North Monroe Medical Center (3721 N Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303).
• Wednesday, October 21 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
• Free and open to patients of all ages, both symptomatic and asymptomatic.
• Drive-up PCR testing only, please wear a mask. Results in 2-3 days.
• Testing is operated by North Florida Medical Centers. For more information, email announcements@nfmc.org.
• COVID-19 Testing Site at FAMU Bragg Memorial Stadium (1500 Wahnish Way, Tallahassee, FL 32307)
• The site is currently offering Rapid COVID-19 Antigen testing for all patients with results in less than 1 hour. PCR molecular testing is available by request with results in 48 hours. Sign up for testing at curative.com 
• Testing is free and open to the public. Appointments and walk-ups are accepted. Physician referral not required. Insurance is accepted but not required.
• The Rapid COVID-19 Antigen test sample is collected by a healthcare worker who will gently swab the inside of a patient's nostrils. This collection process is quick, easy, and comfortable.
• Patients receive their Rapid COVID-19 Antigen results within one hour of testing by email or SMS text. The Florida Department of Health receives all patient results and will contact patients with positive results.
• The Curative RT-PCR molecular COVID-19 test is a self-collected, painless, oral fluid test swab that provides patient results within 48 hours.
• For inquires about their results, patients can contact the Curative support staff by calling 888-702-9042.
• The site opens at 8 a.m. Monday-Saturday. The site closes when the number of allocated tests has been reached.
• Leon County expands Leon CARES program to provide local assistance to individuals, businesses and human service agencies impacted by COVID-19. For eligibility requirements and to submit an application to receive assistance, visit www.LeonCountyCARES.com. 
• On September 25, Governor DeSantis signed Executive Order 20-244 that places all of Florida into Phase 3 of the COVID-19 recovery plan, effective immediately. View the Executive Order by clicking HERE.
• Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality (OEV) distributes cloth face coverings to businesses. Face coverings are available for pickup at the Tallahassee-Leon County Office of Economic Vitality. A business with one location is eligible for up to 100 face coverings. Local businesses with multiple locations are eligible for up to 200 face coverings. • Office of Economic Vitality (315 S. Calhoun Street, Suite 110, Tallahassee, FL, 32301) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
• County offering free face coverings for pickup at all Libraries. Leon County continues to make free face coverings available for pickup at all County library locations during regular hours. Through the library program and with OEV, the County has distributed over 450,000 masks to citizens. Five face masks per individual will be allowed for pickup to ensure adequate supply to meet demand.  For locations and hours, visit www.LeonCountyLibrary.gov
• It’s Not Too Much to Mask Campaign. Leon County launched the social media campaign, It’s Not Too Much to Mask to encourage the use of masks and facial coverings in public. If you’d like to participate, post a masked-up selfie and share why you wear a mask and for whom using #MaskOnLeon.
