Business Update for those Facing the Impact of COVID-19 Friday, October 30, 2020 The City of Miami Beach extended the State of Emergency Declaration and Emergency Measures through November 4, 2020. Please note, all retail stores outside of the MXE, including package liquor stores, grocery stores, convenience stores, and gasoline service/filling stations, which offer for sale any alcoholic beverage(s), (including, but not limited to, liquor, beer, or wine) for off-premises consumption may sell alcoholic beverages pursuant to those times delineated in Section 6-3 of the Code of Laws and Ordinances of the City of Miami Beach. Retail stores selling alcoholic beverages within the MXE must still close at 8 p.m. per City Code. Ambient level music and live entertainment continues to be permitted; however, the volume shall not exceed the level of a normal conversation.  Notwithstanding the foregoing, package liquor stores and other retail stores selling alcoholic beverages for off-premises consumption must still adhere to the curfew established throughout Miami-Dade County pursuant to County EO 27-20, as amended. Such curfew is in effect daily from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. Miami Beach Restaurant Reimbursement Program We are thrilled to announce that the Miami Beach Commission voted unanimously Wednesday to deliver $60,000 in grant money to help the city’s hard-hit restaurant industry. The Miami Beach Restaurant Reimbursement Grant is open to restaurants in the city that are not part of a chain or franchise. Mobile food trucks, pop-up restaurants, carts, restaurants within hotels, nightclubs, bars without restaurants and home-based businesses are not eligible to apply. Participating restaurants may not have any outstanding code violations, liens, pending litigation, outstanding ad valorem property taxes and must meet all other program requirements. Due to the volume of restaurants, this is a first-come, first-qualified, first-served grant up to $1,000 in expense reimbursement for third-party delivery service fees. The program is available for eligible restaurants located within the city of Miami Beach. Learn how to slow and prevent the spread of COVID-19 in your restaurant with a FREE, one hour training developed by the FIU Chaplin School of Hospitality, “COVID-19 Restaurant Safety and Compliance". Training materials are available online in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole and can be accessed at any time. Participants who pass the post-training quiz will be mailed a certificate of course completion to display in their establishments. For more information click here.
