Learn More » National Wildlife Federation Four Elements to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat Certifying your garden or yard as a Wildlife Habitat is as easy as 1, 2, 3 … and 4. All you need to do is use native plants that provide local wildlife with four key elements to thrive. They need FOOD, WATER, COVER, and SHELTER to raise their young. Luckily, most native plants will provide some combination of those elements. Learn More » Tequesta Trace Players Get Some Shade Here in South Florida, you have to plan for heat and sunlight, but on those long hot tournament days, the heat can feel overwhelming for athletes. Luckily, our Parks team is always looking for ways to improve your experience in our City parks. That’s why they’ve successfully installed a new shade system on the multi-purpose fields at Tequesta Trace Park. Staying cool can make all the difference on those hot days, so be sure your young athlete takes advantage of the shade the next time you’re out at Tequesta Trace. Presidents' Day Holiday Monday, February 21 Initially a day to honor George Washington, Presidents' Day has expanded to celebrate the successes of all our nation's chief executives. Florida is the largest state to have not produced a United States president, while eight have come from Virginia.  All City administrative offices (including City Hall, the Community Center, the Public Works Services Center, and the Building Department) will be closed on Monday, February 21 in observance of Presidents’ Day.   City parks will be open and will follow regular operating hours. There will be regular garbage and recycling service. Celebrate the Seasons at Weston World Fest! Sunday, March 6 | 12 to 4 p.m. The award-winning seventh annual Weston World Fest is returning to Regional Park on Sunday, March 6 with a celebration of the “Seasons” featuring twenty interactive booths that will display their unique interpretation of this year’s theme, highlighting seasonal celebrations from around the world. Younger attendees will enjoy the return of the Passport Program, allowing children to enjoy a tour of the world and receive free tickets for activities such as henna art, balloon art and airbrush tattoos, based on the number of countries they visit.  Food vendors will offer authentic international cuisine, hosted by area restaurants. Entrance to the festival is free; food and beverages are available for purchase.  Learn More » Spring Food Needs List for Harvest Drive Help When and If You Can It is an unfortunate reality that Harvest Drive has turned from an annual Thanksgiving Food Drive to a year-round food supplier for families in need within our schools and community. Due to limitations of what they can get from their suppliers, they are asking the public for the following items: cereal, powdered milk, pancake mix, macaroni & cheese, soup, peanut butter, jelly, applesauce, pasta, rice, boxed mashed potatoes, cookies & crackers and canned vegetables, black beans and pasta sauce. No glass jars please. Vulnerable Population and Special Needs Registry If you or a loved one might be in need of assistance during an emergency or local disaster, such as a hurricane, it is important to register with Broward County. Registering for the Vulnerable Population registry or the State's Special Needs Registry does not guarantee services, but it will make the county and the City of Weston (or wherever your loved one resides) aware of the potential need for services should a local emergency or disaster impact our area. Learn More » Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month Workshop Parents and their children ages 11 and over, are invited to join the Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month workshops designed to increase awareness of teen dating violence and healthy relationship behaviors to spark proactive and responsible conversations between parents and their children. The last presentation of the workshop series will take place on February 22 at 5:30 p.m. with a discussion panel and tabling event. This virtual discussion panel will be between youth, parents and community members about the topics discussed in the series, featuring various organizations who will provide access to community resources. If you are in need of services while driving on Florida’s highways, dial *347 to receive assistance from the Road Rangers, which provide traffic incident management response services and limited no-cost assistance to motorists to improve highway safety. Learn More » Live Vape Free Broward Digital Program for Teens Did you know that e-cigarettes continue to be the most used tobacco product among teens? In Florida, 12.8% of youth use e-cigarettes. Tobacco Free Florida in Broward County has rolled out their Live Vape Free text-based program for teens (ages 13 to 17). The program provides text-support, interactive content, and one-on-one coaching to help teens quit e-cigarettes. The program adapts to the teen’s level of engagement and features content such as tips to quit, boost confidence and motivate teens to quit and stay nicotine-free.  Learn More » Already Filed Your Taxes?
