Be Safe, Be Seen on Halloween

Take a look at the tips below for things kids and parents can do to stay safe this Halloween.

  • Carry glow sticks or flashlights, use reflective tape or stickers on costumes and bags, and wear light colors to help kids see and be seen by drivers.
  • Accompany kids under age 12 for trick-or-treating.
  • Slow down and be alert! Kids are excited on Halloween and may dart into the street. Turn on headlights early in the day to spot kids from further away.
  • Remind kids to cross the street at corners or crosswalks.
  • When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls. Choose face paint over masks when possible. Masks can limit children’s vision.
Not So Spooky Parking

Don't circle the block! Plan ahead and view where the city parking garages and lots are located hereAs always, please celebrate responsibly. If you plan on drinking, make sure to also plan a sober ride home.

Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Replacement Project

Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Replacement

Project Advisory: Thursday, October 26, 2023

The Venetian Causeway Water and Sewer Main Replacement project is approaching final completion. The contractor successfully replaced the old water and sewer mains with new underground pipes and is now completing final restoration work.

Project Update

This project has returned to Phase II; the final phase of construction. The contractor will begin road restoration on Friday, October 25 and end on Tuesday, October 31. All work will be completed during day time hours.

To keep traffic flowing, we ask that all vehicles, including commercial vehicles, refrain from parking on the road. Please be advised that the city has committed to increased enforcement during this traffic change.

Timeline

The project team anticipates that all traffic impacts will be removed by the end of October 2023. Regular work hours will continue Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with weekend work approved on a case-by-case basis.

Please know that this schedule may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Phase II – Traffic Changes

  • The eastbound lane on Venetian Way between Island Ave will be closed.
  • The eastbound lane on Venetian Way between East and West Rivo Alto will be closed.
  • The westbound bike lanes and sidewalks will be open.
  • The eastbound bike lanes and sidewalks will be closed.
  • The left turn from Century Lane onto Venetian Way (eastbound) will be restricted.
  • Traffic on Belle Isle will be redirected through Island Ave south.

Belle Isle Traffic Changes - Phase II

Rivo Alto Traffic Changes - Phase II

What to Expect

  • Due to the partial closure of Venetian Way, residents will notice an increase in traffic through their neighborhood.
  • There may be construction noise due to drilling equipment.
  • Commuters to and from Miami Beach will face delays on the Venetian Causeway due to detours.
  • There may be moderate noise impacts outside of normal working hours.
  • One lane of the Venetian Causeway will be open at all times.
  • Emergency vehicles will have access to the islands at all times.
