National Poison Prevention Week
March 19 - 25, 2023
1-800-222-1222. Write that number down and leave it a place where everyone in the house can see it. That’s the number to Poison Help – a hotline for emergency expert advice from nationally accredited medical professionals. Annually, they’ll assist over 2 million people, with poison-related questions ranging from cleaning supplies to bug bites. Poison Help doesn’t just offer advice after a poisoning event though, they believe the best way to prevent a poisoning is through education and awareness.

This week, learn the best ways to prevent a poisoning from occurring in your family.
Water Smart Weston
Proper Pool Barriers & Adult Supervision
Proper fences, barriers, alarms and covers can be lifesaving devices. A fence of at least four feet in height should surround the pool or spa on all sides. The water should only be accessible through a self-closing, self-latching gate. Teach children to never try to climb over the gate or fence. Install a door alarm from the house to the pool area, and keep pool and spa covers in working order.

Proper pool barriers DO NOT substitute for adult supervision. There should always be a Water Watcher when children are around water.

So, stay cool in the pool and learn to swim at the Y today!
