Hurricane Season Comes to a Close As the Atlantic Hurricane Season comes to a close out tomorrow, we have much to be thankful for in South Florida – though many of our neighbors throughout the State received the brunt of storms this year, we were spared. Do not let your guard down for next season. Take the time to survey your home and yard during the “off-season” to ensure your home will weather any storm impacts in the future. To assist property owners with making such improvements, the State of Florida has authorized the My Safe Florida Program and also enacted a two-year sales tax holiday (through June 30, 2024) on items such as impact-resistant windows, doors and garage doors (see the article below on the sales tax holiday for details). |

Weston Volunteer Day December 3 at Markham Park The Broward County Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a Volunteer Day for Weston residents and families at Markham Park on Saturday, December 3 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Volunteers will be picking up garbage around the shelters, lakes, and natural areas of the park.
The park cleanup will help improve the natural beauty of the park by removing trash from the land and water’s edge. The trash and pollution in our waterways can directly impact the health of our communities by affecting the drinking water. This is a great opportunity for students to earn community service hours for high school graduation. |
