National Voter Registration Day - September 20 You’ve heard it before, but we’ll ask again anyways … are you registered to vote? If you aren’t sure, RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov will quickly let you know. If you aren’t registered, you can register there, too! Have your Florida Driver’s License or ID Card on-hand and the last four digits of your Social Security Number to complete your registration in a matter of minutes.
To be eligible to vote in the upcoming General Election on November 8, you must register to vote by October 11. |

Fall 2022 Edition of Visitors Guide Now Available Expecting out of town guests? The latest edition of our popular Visitors Guide is now available online and in print. Share with friends and family visiting our beautiful City. It is also a great resource for residents as it features businesses in Weston’s retail plazas organized in categories such as dining, shopping and personal services. Printed copies available at City Hall, the Administrative Services Center, or the Community Center. The guide is also distributed to the Weston YMCA, Weston Branch Library and hotels throughout the City. |

Business Tax Renewal Deadline is Friday, September 30 Weston businesses must have an active Local Business Tax Receipt in order to do business in the City. The Local BTR must be renewed annually by September 30 to remain active and avoid penalties. Existing business owners with active email addresses should have received an email from the City of Weston with a direct link to your Local BTR invoice to pay online. NEW Ford F150 Lightning Trucks for Public Works We’re taking a big step forward in our sustainability efforts with the delivery of one of our new all-electric Ford F150 Lightning trucks. The trucks will be used by our Public Works team on their daily duties, helping Weston to reduce our carbon footprint.
Not only will we have an EV charging station for the vehicles at our Public Works building, but the public will also soon be able to take advantage of charging stations at Weston Regional and Vista Parks. You may have already noticed the construction of the stations, so be sure to keep up with your city media for updates on the opening of the stations. |

Weston Community Center Karate | Next Session Begins October 5 Are you looking to stay active while also learning the basic principles of self-defense, weaponry, and forms in Karate? The next Karate session with David Schopp, 5th degree with four certified Black Belts in Goju Karate, runs from October through December and begins on Wednesday, October 5 for ages five and over at the Community Center located inside Weston Regional Park at 20200 Saddle Club Road.
Classes meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 to 7 p.m. for ages five through 12 and 7 to 8 p.m. for ages 13 and up. Don’t miss out! Register today. |

City of Weston Volunteer Day at Markham Park Students to Earn Service Hours Help beautify a local county park, rehabilitate our waterways AND earn community service hours while doing so. Ages five through 15 are invited with a parent, and 16 and over are welcome to participate in the City of Weston Family Volunteer Day at Markham Park. Trash and pollution directly impact the health of communities and Markham Park is working towards restoring the natural resources of South Florida and providing a great place for families to enjoy. Weston Racquet Club Junior Tennis Program The Junior Tennis Programs at the Weston Racquet Club begins on Monday, September 26. Players between the ages of four and 15 are broken up into four age brackets for specialized training and instruction. The programs meet three days a week and run until November 5. The focus of the groups vary from basic movement and racquet skills to tournament preparation but the emphasis is always to have FUN! |

Okapi Wanderers Rugby FC League Registration Opens October 1 Are you ready for the upcoming Rugby season? Registration for Weston’s rugby league, Okapi Wanderers Rugby FC, opens on October 1. The club has teams for eight age divisions ranging from adults to an under-8 squad. If you’re unsure whether rugby is right for you or your child, now is the best time to get involved. Try out the sport with special introductory sessions scheduled during the month of October. These sessions will emphasize the joy of rugby and teamwork and are open to all skill levels. |

Tips such as getting cash, filling gas tanks, securing important documents in waterproof containers (which can even be a zip lock bag) or stored in your cloud, will all make riding out the storm’s after-effects a little easier. |

Broward Schools Here Comes the Bus App Parents of students that ride the bus to and from school with Broward Schools have a new way to stay connected. Broward Schools is now on Here Comes the Bus -- a free and easy-to-use web application that allows parents to view the location of their child’s school bus in real-time on a smartphone, tablet or personal computer.
Here Comes the Bus will make knowing when your child’s school bus is arriving easier.
