Virtual Economic Development Open House
August 24 | 6:30 p.m.
The City of Weston is in the process of conducting an Economic Development Analysis of our community. The purpose of the project is to evaluate existing programs, policies and activities that seek to improve the economic well-being and quality of life in Weston. The Analysis will help guide planning and policies to further create economic development opportunities in Weston by attracting and growing businesses, creating and retaining jobs, and making our community a better place to live.

Please join us for a virtual Open House tomorrow, August 24 at 6:30 PM to learn about the project and ways that you can get involved.
Today is Primary Election Day
Today is Election Day all across the state of Florida for the Primary Election. If you are a registered voter and have not cast your vote via vote by mail or early voting, be sure to visit your polling location before the polls close at 7 p.m. today to vote. Click below to learn more. You can download a sample of your ballot and confirm your polling location.
Community Survey Closes August 30
Ensure Your Voice is Heard
Receiving input from a wide array of residents will help us ensure that we understand the values of our community members. It will also let us be sure that we are representing our neighbors in the large and small decisions we make about programs, policies, and strategic plans. While the survey asks you to register your email and zip code, it is only to ensure one survey per person. Your email address is kept confidential and protected, as are your responses.
Improvements at Royal Palm Blvd. & Weston Rd.
Construction Begins on August 29
Improvements to the intersection of Royal Palm Boulevard and Weston Road are coming soon. A third southbound turn lane to Weston Road will be added from westbound Royal Palm Boulevard, which will help to alleviate congestion from vehicles entering the area from the I-75 interchange.

Construction will begin on Monday, August 29 and work will take place during non-peak hours to minimize the impact on traffic. Still, motorists may wish to seek an alternate route by accessing Weston Road from Griffin Road or State Road 84. This project is funded by the Broward Surtax funding from the MAP Broward Program.
Arts Council of Greater Weston

And the Winners Are . . .
ACGW Summer Instagram Photo Contest
The Arts Council of Greater Weston has announced the winners of this year’s Summer Instagram Photo Contest whose theme was ‘Pets & Creatures Great and Small’. With the competition getting better and better each year, we don’t know how the judges narrowed it down, but they did! There were 84 entries, narrowed down to an album of 30 top images and then down to the final four winners. Take a look and be ready to go Ahhhhh!
Weston Friends of the Library Bookstore
Now Open and Looking for Volunteers
You may notice some familiar faces at the Weston Branch Library again. For the first time since in-person operations resumed, the Weston Friends of the Library bookstore is now open. Stop by for some snacks and discount books from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. While you're there, talk to them about open board member positions and volunteer opportunities.

Resources for Parents and Families
As parents and students settle back into the classroom, you may have more questions as we all adapt to the school year routine. How does a parent register to volunteer? Can I change my child’s bus route? How do I pay for school meals? Where do I find the menus? Is there before or after school care available? Find the answers to these and other questions on the Broward Schools Parent & Family Resources page online linked below.
Fire Safety Tip
Smoke Alarm
Smoke alarms are a key part of a home fire escape plan. If there is ever a fire, smoke spreads fast. Working smoke alarms give you early warning so you can get outside quickly. The National Fire Protection Association has outlined home smoke alarm safety tips. Take time to learn about the proper installation and use of smoke alarms in your home.

Water Smart Weston
Back to School, Back to Swim
Water is everywhere in South Florida, whether it is a backyard pool, lake, or canal. If your child does not know how to swim, make swim lessons part of their back-to-school routine. It’s the first step towards drowning prevention. The Children’s Services Council of Broward County has partnered with Broward County’s SWIM Central program to provide a coupon to off-set the cost of swimming instruction for children and their family at specific locations

YMCA Fall Swim Lesson Schedule
Learning to swim is a life-saving skill. Check out the YMCA Fall aquatics program schedule for ages 6 months through adult. It is recommended to bring your child to get a swim evaluation to know which stage would be best before registering. The best times for swim evaluations are 4:30 through 7:30 p.m. one weekdays and from 9 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.
