Hurricane Preparedness Shutters, Impact Windows, and Other Protections Impact-rated doors and windows help to secure your home in the event of a windstorm; however, if you do not have impact windows, there are other options. Shutters are used to protect doors and windows from objects that may become projectiles during high winds, and to prevent damage caused by pressure changes when windows or doors fail. Additionally, plywood can be used to protect windows if you do not have shutters.
It’s important to become familiar with how you will protect your windows before a storm threatens South Florida, so you will be able to identify any additional supplies you may need in advance of a storm threat. |
