Coronavirus (Covid-19) Community Update March 20, 2020 as of 12:00 p.m.

WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER!

Yesterday you received my COVID-19 Community Update and I hope that you found the information useful and helpful. I know that you have many information sources available to you and I have been judicious in inundating your Inboxes with information that is available from other sources, including the City of Weston’s website. Please know that the City and our team is constantly updating our information/data/documents and making them available to you via our various communication networks. Weston’s priority continues to be the health and safety of our residents, employees, and visitors.  It is beyond dispute that this unprecedented pandemic has and will cause us many inconveniences and disruptions. We stress that all Westonites make smart personal decisions, take suggested actions, and stay updated and work together.

UPDATE: EMERGENCY ORDER 2020-02 Last night, the City of Weston enacted Emergency Order 2020-02 that requires:            Section 1:       Weston Regional Park, Tequesta Trace Park and Vista Park shall be closed beginning at 11:00 PM on March 20, 2020, and no person shall be permitted to enter upon or be in such parks.            Section 2:       All restaurants shall cease all on premises dining beginning at noon on March 20, 2020; provided, however, that restaurants may remain open for their normally permitted hours for drive-thru, take-out and delivery services only.  Based upon this Emergency Order, restaurants can remain open and can prepare food for takeout, delivery, or drive-thru but must cease on premises dining effective noon today. I am strongly encouraging you to patronize our local restaurants and order food for takeout and/or delivery – We currently have a Visitor Guide on our City’s website that lists them for your easy reference and use. With the closure of Weston Regional Park, Tequesta Trace Park, and Vista Park, we suggest you visit the City’s other passive parks at: Gator Run Park, Indian Trace Park, Eagle Point Park, Peace Mound Park, Country Isles Park, Town Center Park, Emerald Estates Park, Heron Park, Windmill Ranch Park, and Library Park; however, please heed the CDC recommended guidelines and keep your social distance spacing of 6 feet from other people. Parks are a great way to relieve stress and anxiety, and we all have more of that right now, but just as you do elsewhere, be smart when going and using our parks. SOCIAL DISTANCING AND SMART PERSONAL DECISIONS ARE CRUCIAL FOR ALL Ø Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Ø Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Ø Stay home when you are sick. Ø Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Ø Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.  Follow the CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask. CDC does not recommend that people who are well wear a facemask to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including COVID-19. Facemasks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of the disease to others. The use of facemasks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility). Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Reembolsos de Western Union por $153 millones de dólares

All of us are facing this unprecedented pandemic that has and will cause us many inconveniences and disruptions. By making smart personal decisions, taking suggested actions, staying updated and working together, we can do the best to protect our community and each other. Weston’s top priority continues to be the health and safety of our residents, employees, and visitors. We are here to help, listen and provide answers where we are able. We are used to purchasing food/supplies for a hurricane – this circumstance is very different. There is no need to rush to any store to purchase food or supplies – we understand that the supply chain has not been impacted and remains intact and grocery stores are restocking as quickly as they receive products.

INFORMATION AND WEBSITES Visit the City of Weston’s Coronavirus webpage for the latest information and links to pertinent sites and documents at:  www.westonfl.org/coronavirus Effective Wednesday, March 18, all City of Weston administrative offices, including City Hall and the Weston Community Center, will be closed to the public, but departmental operations are continuing. Phones are being answered Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Call 954-385-2000. All City parks remain open for passive use. Playgrounds and park pavilions are closed and all organized sport leagues are canceled until further notice. BSO law enforcement and BSO Fire Rescue are fully operational in our City and responding to calls in the normal course. BSO is encouraging residents to report non-emergency and delayed crimes via phone. Please call the Weston District at 954-389-2010 instead of visiting the office’s front desk. There is no impact on garbage and recycling collection, which will continue on its regular operating schedule. Water service is uninterrupted from the City of Sunrise. Anyone who suspects they might have been exposed to COVID-19 should call the Florida Dept. of Health at 954-412-7300 before visiting a healthcare facility. You will be referred to a hospital or testing facility that has been set up to handle COVID-19 testing and potential cases by taking samples and proper precautions. The COVID-19 Call Center is available 24/7 at 1-866-779-6121 or email COVID-19@flhealth.gov If you or a loved one has medical needs, have food insecurity, are home bound, etc., please register for the Broward County Vulnerable Population Registry. This will connect you with services providers in the County that may be able to assist you through this and any other local emergency. Visit the Vulnerable Population Registry online at https://www.broward.org/Registry/Pages/default.aspx or call 954-831-3902 or 3-1-1.  The CDC and other agencies have issued guidance for how to self-monitor and what to do if you are feeling like you have a cold or the flu. BARS AND RESTAURANTS IN WESTON The City of Weston enacted an Emergency Order adopting the Governor's Executive Order 20-68 that was issued on March 17, 2020, which set forth the following requirements for bars, pubs, nightclubs and restaurants: Any establishment that is authorized to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises that derives more than 50% of its gross revenue from the sale of alcoholic beverages shall suspend all sale of alcoholic beverages for 30 days, effective 5p.m. on March 17, 2020. All restaurants shall reduce their occupancy to 50% of its current building occupancy. All restaurants shall ensure a min. 6-foot distance between any group of patrons and shall limit parties to no more than 10 individuals. Restaurants shall implement employee screening and prohibit any employee from entering the premises if they meet any of the following criteria: Any person infected with COVID-19 who has not had two consecutive negative test results separated by 24 hours; Any person showing signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection, including cough, fever, shortness of breath or sore throat; Any person who has been in contact with any person known to have COVID-19, who has not yet tested negative within the past 14 days; Any person who traveled through any airport within the past 14 days; Any person who traveled on a cruise ship within the past 14 days. In addition to those requirements, Weston's Executive Order states: o  Effective today (March 18, 2020), all restaurants shall close for on premises dining no later than 10:00 p.m. daily. o  Restaurants may remain operational for their normally permitted hours for drive-thru, take-out and delivery services only.

This is a CodeRed call from the City Manager’s office of the City of Weston, Florida on Wednesday afternoon March 18, 2020 to update our residents and businesses regarding City operations and responses to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The City continuously monitors and shares information from the CDC, the Florida Department of Health and other government agencies which we post on the Weston website at WestonFL.org/Coronavirus

All City of Weston administrative offices, have closed to the public effective today, March 18 until further notice. All City business WILL continue online or by phone. Phones will be answered from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Call 954-385-2000.

For the Building Department, Permitting services will continue online and by phone during their regular business hours - Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. at 954-385-0500 and WestonFL.org/Permits

There is no impact on garbage and recycling collection. A reminder there is no impact to water service and your Weston tap water is fine drink.

Effective today, all restaurants in Weston shall close for onsite dining no later than 10 p.m. daily. After 10 p.m., restaurants may remain open for drive-thru, take-out and deliver services only.
If you are at risk due to a disability or health issue, regardless of age, please register for the Vulnerable Population Registry by calling 3-1-1.

Notice 2020-17; Payment relief on account of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) emergency. The Treasury Department and IRS are extending the due date for Federal income tax payments due April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020, for payments due of up to $10 million for corporations and up to $1 million for individuals - regardless of filing status – and other unincorporated entities. Associated interest, additions to tax, and penalties for late payment will also be suspended until July 15, 2020.

Notice 2020-17 will be in IRB 2020-15, dated April 6, 2020.
