The 2020 Census is coming!  Every 10 years the U.S. Census Bureau conducts a nationwide count to determine the number of people living in the United States.  In mid-March, homes across the country will begin receiving invitations to complete the 2020 Census.  You can respond in one of three ways:  online, by phone or by mail.  Remember, if you don't have a computer or internet access at home, you can always visit your local library to complete the Census online. It's important that everyone be counted because census results will determine how billions of dollars in federal funding are distributed to our community for hospitals, schools, roads and other vital programs. Traffic Impact: Miami Marathon Weekend Saturday, February 8 - Sunday, February 9 On Sunday, February 9 the 18th Annual Life Time Miami Marathon and Half Marathon presented by cbdMD returns with over 30,000 runners and walkers. Runners will make their way from Downtown Miami through the MacArthur Causeway and exit Miami Beach on the Venetian Causeway.  The Miami Beach Police Department will be working closely with this event to minimize the traffic impact.  SUNDAY TRAFFIC ADVISORY Downtown/Brickell: 6 a.m. - 2 p.m.  MacArthur Causeway EB: 5 a.m. - 8 a.m. Miami Beach Area: 5 a.m. - 10 a.m. Venetian Causeway: 6 a.m. - 10 a.m. Rickenbacker Causeway Area: 6:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Coconut Grove Area: 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. We recommend for all those wishing to enter or exit Miami Beach between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. to utilize the Julia Tuttle Causeway. Roads will be closed and managed by the Miami, Miami Beach and Miami-Dade Police Departments, who will assist with traffic through intersections between gaps of runners.  Click the image below for a closer look at the course map for Sunday's race.  On Saturday, February 8 the Life Time Tropical 5k will also race through the city. Pronto llega la Semana de Concientización sobre el Robo de Identidad Relacionado con Impuestos

Es la temporada en que la marea trae esos sobres con el sello “Se adjunta importante documento de declaración de impuestos”. Sí, es la temporada de la presentación de las declaraciones de impuestos, y también es la temporada en la cual aparecen los malvados ladrones de identidad de impuestos e impostores que simulan trabajar para el gobierno con intenciones de robarte tu dinero.

Averigua cómo frenarlos durante la Semana de Concientización sobre Robo de Identidad Relacionado con Impuestos, del 3 al 7 de febrero. La FTC y sus colegas patrocinarán conjuntamente seminarios web y otros eventos gratuitos. En estos eventos habrá información sobre cómo evitar el robo de identidad relacionado con impuestos, cómo reconocer a los impostores que simulan trabajar para el gobierno y cómo recuperarse del fraude. En algunos de estos eventos también se destacarán recursos especiales para miembros activos del servicio militar, adultos de edad avanzada y pequeños negocios. ¿No puedes esperar a que comience la Semana de Concientización sobre el Robo de Identidad Relacionado con Impuestos? Si eres un miembro activo del servicio militar, un veterano o un empleado de la Administración de Veteranos, o si simplemente quieres adelantarte a los eventos de la semana, súmate a la FTC, VA y el Servicio de Inspección Postal de EE. UU. para participar en un seminario web el 29 de enero a la 1 p.m. Aprende a protegerte y entérate de lo que tienes que hacer si eres víctima del robo de identidad relacionado con impuestos.

El robo de identidad relacionado con impuestos se produce cuando alguien usa tu número de Seguro Social (SSN) para presentar una falsa declaración de impuestos y cobrar tu reembolso. Es posible que tú no te enteres de esto hasta que trates de presentar tu declaración de impuestos y el IRS la rechace por ser una presentación duplicada. Mientras el IRS investiga el caso, tu reembolso de impuestos se puede demorar. El uso indebido de tu SSN significa que también podrías estar en riesgo de sufrir otros tipos de robo de identidad.

Una cosa es preparar a tu familia, tus animales domésticos, tu propiedad y pertenencias para estos eventos. Y otra cosa es proteger tu información personal y tus finanzas de los estafadores que aprovechan las emergencias climáticas para engañar a la gente.

El sitio web de la FTC, Cómo lidiar con las emergencias causadas por inclemencias del clima, tiene recomendaciones prácticas para ayudarte a prepararte, lidiar y recuperarte de una emergencia causada por las inclemencias del clima.
