It's Fire Prevention Week
Fire Safety - Learn the Sounds
Are you starting to hear a little ‘chirp chirp’ in the home? Don’t ever wait to replace fire alarm batteries. Matter of fact, be proactive with your alarms and research the sounds they make, and the messages those sounds mean. Knowing what your fire or CO2 alarm is trying to alert you of is one of the first steps you can take to be fire safe. Learn the others this fire safety week.
Hurricane Preparedness
Around Your Home
It is a good practice to do an asset inventory of your home each year before a storm threatens our area. Take photos or video of valuable items inside and outside your home and save them to a folder in the cloud, and a USB if you prefer to have a back up. Also review your insurance policies to ensure that you have adequate windstorm and flood insurance coverage.
Harvest Food Drive Continues in Weston
Continue the spirit of donation to help make a real difference in the lives of Broward County students. Sidewalk Safety
Walking, Biking, or Running . . . Know the Rules to Prevent Accidents
Our city landscape is inviting to runners, joggers, walkers and cyclists alike. All of which can legally use a sidewalk. Although cyclists are encouraged to use the bike lanes, some prefer the security of sidewalk use. Whether walking, running or cycling on the sidewalk, everyone is encouraged to respect one another and share the use of the sidewalk.

According to Florida Statute (316.2065), anyone riding a non-motorized bicycle (tricycle, etc.) whether riding on a sidewalk or in a crosswalk have "all the rights and duties applicable to a pedestrian under the same circumstances." Cyclists should always yield the right-of-way to any pedestrian and shall give an audible signal before overtaking and passing such pedestrian.
