¿Recibiste un mensaje de texto de tu propio número? Eso es una estafa.

 Los estafadores siempre están pensando en formas de dar un nuevo giro a sus trucos delictivos. En esta ocasión, están enviando mensajes de texto spam desde tu propio número de teléfono. Para eso, cambian (suplantan) el identificador de llamadas para que parezca que te están enviando mensajes desde tu número, y la impresión de recibir un mensaje de texto de ti mismo seguramente llamará tu atención, y eso es lo que buscan. Si recibes un mensaje de texto de tu propio número, es una estafa.

¿Cómo funciona la estafa? En una de las versiones, recibirás un mensaje de texto de agradecimiento por haber pagado tu factura, junto al ofrecimiento de recibir un regalo, para lo cual solo tienes que hacer clic en un enlace. No hagas clic. Hacer clic podría exponerte a estafas, a la descarga de programas maliciosos, o a la inclusión de tu número de teléfono en listas que luego se venden a otros estafadores.

En tu teléfono	Es posible que tu teléfono tenga una opción para filtrar y bloquear los mensajes de tipo spam o los mensajes enviados por desconocidos. Aquí podrás encontrar las instrucciones para filtrar y bloquear mensajes en un iPhone y para bloquear un número de teléfono en un teléfono Android.
A través de tu proveedor de servicio inalámbrico	Puede que tu proveedor de servicio inalámbrico tenga una herramienta o servicio que te permita bloquear llamadas y mensajes de texto. Para consultar las opciones de diferentes proveedores, visita ctia.org, un sitio web de la industria inalámbrica.
Con una aplicación de bloqueo de llamadas	Hay algunas aplicaciones de bloqueo de llamadas que también te permiten bloquear los mensajes de texto no deseados. En ctia.org  puedes consultar una lista de aplicaciones de bloqueo de llamadas para teléfonos Android, BlackBerry, Apple, y Windows . También puedes buscar aplicaciones en internet. Revisa las funciones, las calificaciones de los usuarios y las opiniones de los expertos.

¿Recibiste un mensaje de texto no deseado? Hay tres formas de reportarlo:

• Repórtarlo en la aplicación de mensajería que usas. Busca la opción para reportar mensajes basura o spam
• Cómo reportar mensajes basura o spam en la aplicación de mensajes
• Cómo reportar mensajes spam en un teléfono Android
• Copia el mensaje y reenvíalo al 7726 (SPAM).
• Repórtalo ante la Comisión Federal de Comercio (FTC) en ReporteFraude.ftc.gov.

NEWS FROM THE CITY OF WESTON February 22, 2022 ‌ Next Regular City Commission Meeting: TONIGHT at 7 p.m. Weston University Law Enforcement Day Weston University visited our partners at Broward Sheriff's Office Weston last week and learned the in's and out's of law enforcement. After a personal welcome from Police Chief Cavalieri, they started the day by meeting members of BSO's aviation division (who arrived via BSO chopper) at Markham Park. Then, they learned how deputies enter and move through dangerous buildings. They wrapped their day at the BSO Weston District office with hands-on crime scene analysis, a drone demo, and a demonstration from the K9 unit member, Nitro.
