Weston University Law Enforcement Day Weston University visited our partners at Broward Sheriff's Office Weston last week and learned the in's and out's of law enforcement. After a personal welcome from Police Chief Cavalieri, they started the day by meeting members of BSO's aviation division (who arrived via BSO chopper) at Markham Park. Then, they learned how deputies enter and move through dangerous buildings. They wrapped their day at the BSO Weston District office with hands-on crime scene analysis, a drone demo, and a demonstration from the K9 unit member, Nitro. Last, but not least, BSO Therapy dog Olivia made everyone's day. Thanks for showing us around, BSO! |

Moonlight Movie in the Park Ron's Gone Wrong Start the weekend with a FREE full-length feature film under the moon and stars. Join us on Friday, March 4, at Regional Park near the Event Stage at 7:30 p.m. to watch Ron’s Gone Wrong. The movie features Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler, and Ron, his new walking, talking digitally connected device. Together they launch into an action-packed journey against the backdrop of social media, where they come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship.
Pack some snacks and a blanket or chairs and arrive early to pick your seating area. Don't be late! The movie starts promptly at 7:30 p.m. Coolers are welcome, but alcohol is not permitted. |

Enjoy the Sights & Sounds of Weston World Fest Sunday, March 6 | Noon to 4 p.m. The award-winning seventh annual Weston World Fest is back to Regional Park on Sunday, March 6 with a celebration of the ”Seasons”, featuring 20 interactive booths that will display their unique interpretation of this year’s theme, highlighting seasonal celebrations from around the world. Younger attendees will enjoy the return of the Passport Program, allowing children to enjoy a tour of the world and receive free tickets for activities such as henna art, balloon art and airbrush tattoos, based on the number of countries they visit.
Food vendors will offer authentic international cuisine, hosted by area restaurants. Entrance to the festival is free; food and beverages are available for purchase. There will be live performances by artists, dancers, singers, and musicians. |

Broward Schools 2022 Caliber Awards Top Assistant Principal & School-Related Employee Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) honored its best of the best at this year’s Caliber Awards Ceremony attended by 1,000 guests and viewed by even more. With over 500 nominees, we congratulate everyone for these prestigious honors and we send some extra special Weston admiration to honoree Derek Gordon, Assistant Principal of the Year, from Western High School and honoree Kimberly Kummler, School-Related Employee of the Year, from Manatee Bay Elementary School.
We reached out for a personal comment and Principal Heather Hedman-Devaughn stated, “‘Nurse Kim’ as we call her has truly been our health hero! With her tremendous support, we successfully made it through one of the most difficult years in all of education history! She made herself accessible to students, staff, and our parents with utmost patience and professionalism! Without Kim, we would not have fared as well as we did!” |

YMCA Spring Leagues Begin March 7 Basketball and Volleyball Registration is open for the YMCA Spring Basketball and Volleyball League that runs from March 7 through May 14. Register your kid(s) ages four through 17 for basketball or ages 10 through 17 for volleyball. Coach request and team request is for ages 14 through 17 for basketball and first come, first serve basis for volleyball. |

Weston Racquet Club Adult Tennis 101 | March and April Tennis is a heart-healthy activity that can keep you fit late into life. If you're still learning the basics, the Weston Racquet Club can help you feel more comfortable and confident on the court. Tennis 101 is designed for beginner adults and is led by experienced Tennis professionals. The four-week session will be offered beginning on March 1 and again on April 5. |
