2019 Prospera Success Stories Luncheon to honor successful local entrepreneurs
WHAT?                 For the sixth consecutive year, Prospera will recognize successful clients at the 2019 Success Stories Luncheon, presented by FPL. Three South Florida small business owners will be honored at the economic development nonprofit organization’s signature fundraising event for their business growth, excellence and economic impact after receiving professional services from Prospera.
WHO?                  Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez; City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez; City of Doral Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez; Prospera Regional Board Chair Maria Elena Cisneros; Prospera South Florida Vice President Myrna Sonora; Prospera President & CEO Augusto Sanabria; Prospera Board of Directors members; business and civic leaders; and local small-business owners (400 attendees expected).

Census 2020: Weston Complete Count Committee Workshop
We are holding a Workshop on Saturday, October 5th at 9 a.m. in the Weston Community Center and we’re looking for individuals throughout the community to join us to be Census Ambassadors. You will be provided information about Census 2020; Census Ambassadors will then help the City in outreach and promotion efforts for Census 2020. Don’t worry if you have little time to commit – we want you too! People with busy lives are desired, because you interact with a lot of PEOPLE. Come get educated on Census 2020 is all we ask.
Moonlight Movie in the Park
Bring lawn chairs or blankets and relax…the movie is on us! The full-length feature film is projected onto a giant inflatable screen. Before the movie screening, we will be collecting new or gently used toys. Please come out and have a wonderful time with your family while doing your part in helping others!
Harvest Drive Toy Collection - Oct. 5th from 5PM - 8PM then enjoy a Movie!
Just One Item Makes A Difference. With one act of kindness you can make a world of difference in a family’s life. Harvest Drive is looking for gently used or new toys. Most of us have something in our home to give. The collection site is the Weston Community Center in the Regional Park from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th. Make it a family affair and stay and enjoy the free Moonlight Movie in the Park at 8 p.m.

BE an AARP Smart Driver
Refresh your driving skills with this classroom course and possibly save money on auto insurance! Drivers ages 50 and over can register for the AARP Smart Driver course that will be held at the Weston Community Center on Oct. 3rd. Refresh your knowledge of the rules – and hazards – of the road with this affordable 6-hour class. You do not have to be a member of AARP to participate.
Hurricane Prep: Things to Anticipate After a Storm
Hurricane season is June 1st through November 30th. Once a storm has passed, you should have a plan of action for your family, home and business that you can implement to ensure everything is taken care of. Here are some things to consider.

Foodies and picky eaters alike will enjoy this unique and engaging hands-on cooking enrichment program for boys and girls ages 3-5.
Advanced Performance Ensemble Begins Oct. 6th
Young actors ages 15 and over can audition for this class, to be cast into the production of Next to Normal, which explores how one suburban household copes with crisis and mental illness. The session begins on October 6th and runs through the performance date in February 2020. Classes meet on Sunday afternoons.
