The heir apparent to a Miami political dynasty, Carolina Clarens, is the seemingly perfect candidate to be the next mayor. The only problem is…nobody likes her. Why? She’s an arrogantly honest candidate whose scorched earth style rattles the city’s political power players. She is tanking in the polls. Enter Alex, the slick D.C. political consultant tasked with smoothing out her edges and getting her the unpredictable Cuban Vote.
Based on Shakespeare’s "The Taming of the Shrew", "The Cuban Vote" draws you into the middle of Carolina and Alex’s quest for the Miami Mayorship…and each other. A romantic political comedy that can only happen in Miami, turns into tremendo arroz con mango and all for the coveted Cuban vote. They say all is fair in love and war, but nothing is fair in love and politics. This world-premiere play by Carmen Pelaez runs through May 15 at Miami New Drama.
Artists have helped Miami become one of the most culturally vibrant cities in the United States. For longtime residents and first-time visitors alike, the visual arts are a central part of the Miami experience. We hope this grant program, which is offering up to $500,000 this year, will be a game changer both for our visual artists and our city, by providing working artists with the resources they need to do their best work.
The Ellies are offered in four categories to support Miami-Dade working and emerging artists, art educators, and established, professionally accomplished artists.
Join the City of Miami Beach tonight, April 27, at 8 p.m. at SoundScape Park for a special showing of "The Nutty Professor" (1996).
Each film screening is free to the public and does not require a ticket. Physical distancing guidelines will be followed.
Brilliant and obese scientist Sherman Klump (Eddie Murphy) invents a miraculous weight-loss solution. After a date with chemistry student Carla Purty (Jada Pinkett) goes badly, a depressed Klump tries the solution on himself. Though he instantly loses 250 pounds, the side effects include a second personality: an obnoxiously self-assertive braggart who calls himself Buddy Love. Buddy proves to be more popular than Sherman, but his arrogance and bad behavior quickly spiral out of control.

No hagas clic.
