El coronavirus puede afectar gravemente a los adultos mayores – y los estafadores se aprovechan de este hecho. Si tú o algún conocido debe quedarse en casa y necesita ayuda para hacer mandados, te conviene enterarte de la última estafa. 

Hay estafadores que están ofreciendo ayuda para hacer mandados y salir corriendo con tu dinero.

Si eres un adulto mayor o un cuidador de una persona de edad avanzada, es posible que necesites ayuda para ir a buscar alimentos al almacén, recetas de prescripción médica y otras provisiones necesarias. Si un desconocido te ofrece ayuda, ten cuidado. Algunos estafadores se ofrecen para comprar provisiones, pero no vuelven nunca con la mercadería ni con tu dinero. Por lo general, es más seguro encontrar un amigo o vecino de confianza o acordar una entrega a domicilio con una compañía reconocida. 

Si compras provisiones en internet, averigua bien a quién le estás comprando. Los vendedores que operan en línea pueden decir que tienen productos de alta demanda, como productos de limpieza, para el hogar y materiales de uso médico, pero no los tienen. Usa un servicio de entrega a domicilio bien establecido, u ordena tus compras directamente a la tienda. Hay muchas tiendas de alimentos y farmacias que están ofreciendo entrega a domicilio sin contacto físico. Habla con ellos por teléfono o video chat para ver cómo están. Mantente en contacto para saber cómo se están manejando – y de paso, para que sepan que estás pensando en ellos

Haz preguntas.Si tu ser querido menciona alguna preocupación de dinero o detectó actividad inusual en sus cuentas, pregúntale los detalles. Weston Recommends Use of Cloth Facial Coverings The City of Weston has issued Emergency Order 2020-08 effective at 12:01 a.m. on April 7, 2020, in an effort to further slow the transmission of the Coronavirus. Everyone is encouraged to wear a cloth facial covering consistent with the current CDC guidelines, including cloth masks, when venturing outside of their home. Persons choosing to use masks are encouraged to review and comply with the CDC and Florida Department of Health guidelines on personal protective equipment. We ask that in general, that N95-rated masks are not used, as those are critical supplies for health care workers, police, fire, emergency management, or other persons engaged in life/safety activities. This order also adopts Executive Orders 20-91 and 20-92 issued by the Governor and Broward County Emergency Orders 20-03 and 20-05, which continues to streamline the rules and regulations that are in place. Wanted: 10,000 Cloth Masks If you have a moment to spare and are looking for a project to that will help your community, join in on cloth mask-making for Cleveland Clinic Florida. Our goal is to contribute 10,000 cloth masks that will be used by hospital visitors as they enter, and collected as they exit. "Safer at Home" Order Still in Effect A reminder that the Emergency Order 2020-05 ("Safer at Home" Order) is still in effect until the Local State of Emergency is lifted. The "Safer at Home" Order calls for residents to restrict outings to essential business only, and allows for other specific essential tasks. Continue to follow social distancing guidelines and hygiene practices - washing hands frequently and sanitizing commonly touched surfaces. BSO and the City's Code Enforcement Officers are authorized to enforce all Emergency Orders that are in place.
