Jamey Johnson to Headline Word of South Festival in April
Leon County Division of Tourism (Visit Tallahassee) in partnership with Word of South, proudly announces eleven-time Grammy-nominated singer Jamey Johnson, at Cascades Park Capital City Amphitheater. As part of the County Concert Series, Johnson will headline the annual literature and music festival, on Friday, April 3, 2020. Tickets go on sale, Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 at noon EST.
Regarded as “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” according to The Washington Post, Johnson is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards from both the Country Music Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards. His 2008 album, That Lonesome Song, was certified platinum for 1 million in sales, and his 2010 ambitious double album, The Guitar Song, received a gold certification. In addition, he won two Song of the Year Trophies, for “Give It Away” and “In Color,” both from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He has received tremendous praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and other publications, many of which have hailed his albums as masterpieces.

County Offers Volunteer Management Certification Program

WHAT: Annual Florida Volunteer Administration Certificate Program
WHEN: Wednesday, January 15 through Friday, January 17 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Leon County Government will conduct its annual Florida Volunteer Management Training Series starting Wednesday, January 15 through Friday, January 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.in the Historic Amtrak Building, Leon County Community Room, 918 Railroad Avenue.
Local volunteer coordinators, volunteer program managers and anyone who supervises volunteers are encouraged to attend the free training. To register for training click here.
Comprised of six courses, the training series covers key points in volunteer management and is led by local and statewide experts with more than 50 years of experience in the field. Course participants will review new trends in volunteering, learn how to target and recruit skilled volunteers, analyze best practices in volunteer supervision and more.
Conducted annually by Leon County Volunteer Services (VolunteerLEON) since 2004, the training series has seen more than 500 graduates. Don’t miss your chance to receive this free professional development opportunity!
